MUS 170 Business of Music

This course introduces the basic elements of the music business. Topics include copyright law, musical arrangements and abridgements, recording and songwriting contracts, agents and managers, performing rights organizations, and the musician's union. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements of the music business. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts.
