Paramedic to RN – Bridge Program

Credential: A.A.S. (Code: A45110P)

The Paramedic to RN Bridge program is developed to allow currently certified paramedics to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing. The successful candidate for this program must complete the following:

  • Hold a Paramedic certification with the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services OR National Registry.
  • Have an Associate of Applied Science in EMS.
  • Score a minimum of 58 on the TEAS exam (administered in November and February).

The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality into nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs which impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential. Course work includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes the nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing safe, individualized care while employing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Employment opportunities are vast within the global health care system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community health care facilities.

Admission for the Paramedic to ADN program is based on selective criteria. Applicable fees are attached to Nursing Classes in this program and student is required to purchase uniforms. This course of study fits the Uniform Articulation Agreement between the University of North Carolina RN to BSN Programs and the North Carolina Community College System Associate Degree Nursing Programs.
