LPN to RN – Bridge Program - Hybrid

The LPN to RN Bridge program is developed to allow currently Licensed Practical Nurses to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing. The successful candidate for this program must complete requirements as updated annually and must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with an unencumbered license. The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality into nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs which impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential. Course work includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes the nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing safe, individualized care while employing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Employment opportunities are vast within the global health care system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community health care facilities.

Admission for the ADN program is based on selective criteria. Applicable fees are attached to Nursing Classes in this program and student is required to purchase uniforms. This course of study fits the Uniform Articulation Agreement between the University of North Carolina RN to BSN Programs and the North Carolina Community College System Associate Degree Nursing Programs.

Hybrid Program is designed for experienced Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) who are seeking a flexible learning option while advancing their nursing education to become a Registered Nurse (RN). This pathway is open to LPNs who hold an active, unencumbered license in North Carolina or a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state and have a minimum of 2,000 hours of LPN work experience within the previous 24 months in a hospital or skilled nursing unit setting. This hybrid option combines the convenience of online coursework with essential in-person clinical rotations.
